How does Theaterfestival Boulevard work?

During Theaterfestival Boulevard, you can enjoy theater, music, and more in Den Bosch for eleven days. You will find our festival heart on the Parade, the square by St. John's Cathedral. There, you will find tents featuring small theater performances, foodtrucks and restaurants and you can watch free performances on the Torenpodium. Between the trees you find IK MAAK MEE, the meeting and discovery spot for children and their caregivers.

In addition, there are performances at locations surrounding our festival heart, in theaters, and at unique venues in and around Den Bosch. You can reach some of the site-specific performances using the free shuttle bus that departs from the Parade.

Where can I go?

The festival heart is free, and from there you can visit various performances.

On the program page, you will find a complete overview of the performances, shows, and workshops you can attend during the festival.

At the top of this page, you can use various filter options to help you choose. For example, you can select a day, choose from various accessibility features, or search by genre or theme.

Additionally, there is a timetable showing which performances take place on a daily basis. You can also mark favorites on this schedule, making it easy to see if your desired performances overlap.

How do I buy a ticket?

For most performances, you can purchase a ticket; this can be done online via our website or at our Tickets & Info point at the Parade.

If you wish to purchase a ticket online, go to the performance page. You will find an overview halfway down with the days and times when a performance can be attended. When you click on the time on the right, you will be directed to the webshop where you can order the ticket. Once the order is complete, you will receive the e-ticket at the email address you provided. If you create an account, you can always access your tickets via the login option at the top of the website.

How do I know where to go during Boulevard?

The festival heart at the foot of St. John's cathedral is filled with signing, and outside every performance venue, there is a tower displaying Boulevard signs. This ensures you can clearly see where you are allowed to enter.

Our Plan your visit page features an overview of the entire festival ground. It also lists the addresses of all locations and indicates which performances at the venues are served by a shuttle bus.

Via the interactive BBA map, you can also view the facilities available at each location, where to find restrooms, or, for example, parking spaces for wheelchair users.

On Thursday, August 6, we will post a site video below to give you an idea of the festival hub on the Parade. You can then see where specific facilities are located.

How can I prepare my visit?

A few days before the performance, you will receive a service email. This contains all practical information regarding your visit to the performance. Please read it carefully.

Download the e-ticket to your phone at home in advance so that it can be scanned at the entrance to the venue. This way, you won't have the stress of trying to find the ticket while in line!

Check the location of the performance and where you can park beforehand, so that you arrive at the performance on time.

Use the restroom before the performance begins. Once the performance has started, you will no longer be able to enter.

How do I get from one location to the other?

Arriva's free sustainable buses depart from the bus stop at the Parade. From the Parade, they travel to a number of locations. Departure: no later than 30 minutes before the start of the performance. Afterwards, they will take you back to the Parade. Performances with a shuttle bus can be identified by the bus icon on your ticket.

The shuttle bus departs from the Parade and goes to the following performances:

  • Schweigman& in collaboration with Zoro Feigl and HIIIT - Klei
  • Het Scheldeoffensief & Comp. Marius - Romeo & Juliet
  • Corpo Máquina Society - Dancing with the Trees
  • Post uit Hessdalen - Ballroom (5+) on Sat 15 Aug
  • Stormkamer - De Salon tussen Zorg en Zuchten

There are no shuttle buses running from the festival square the Parade to the Verkadefabriek and vice versa. If you have an urgent need for transport due to personal circumstances, please send a request with an explanation to toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl. Please do this at least 2 weeks before your visit, so that we have plenty of time to make arrangements for you.

Many locations in and around the festival heart are accessible on foot or by bicycle.

What are the opening hours of Theaterfestival Boulevard?

The festival heart is open daily from 12:00 to 01:00, except on Sunday, August 16, from 12:00 to 23:00. The Tickets & Info desk is open during these hours.

Has accessibility been taken into account?

We try to make the festival accessible to as many people as possible. Check our accessibility page to see which facilities are available for, among others, people who are sensitive to stimuli, deaf and hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired, and wheelchair users.

In the festival heart, there are also two sensory-friendly chairs in a quiet spot, so you can take a moment to relax. Additionally, there are rest areas at various locations; you can find an overview of these here. At the bottom, it is indicated for each location whether a rest area is available and where it might be located on the site.

Food and drinks

In the South, we love to enjoy food and drinks, and in the heart of the festival, you can visit various restaurants, food trucks, and bars.

Reservations for the restaurants are made on the day itself at the restaurant.

For some performances, you can also make use of a Bistro B dinner reservation, which allows you to dine prior to the performance. We take into account that you should be finished on time so that you can go to the performance.
