It is night. Two little brothers are lying in their bedroom when their tablet starts to glow. The tablet is a key that opens a fantasy world. In the dance performance 'ANOCHI', full of Afro-Caribbean moves and acrobatics, the night is not something to be afraid of. It is a place where adventure begins.

Everyone knows that feeling: waking up in the middle of the night from something you cannot quite place. A shadow on the wall. A sound from outside. For young children, the night can be a place where the imagination runs rampant and that is not always pleasant. In 'ANOCHI', two little brothers start out in exactly that place. Their bedroom, the darkness, and then: a tablet that starts to glow. They find themselves in a magical, fantastical world where teddy bears come to life.

The night is not an enemy. It is a place where adventures begin, if you only give it the chance. That is the heart of this performance. Choreographer Remses Rafaela watched his own children become frightened in the dark and decided to give that story a different ending. Not turning on the light, but experiencing adventures in the darkness.

'ANOCHI' focuses on how children deal with fear and the unknown, and how those feelings can be transformed into imagination and movement.

Did you know that Anochi means night in Papiamentu, the language spoken on Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao?

The show will premiere on Saturday 8 August during Boulevard.
