Explanation of accessibility terms

In order to categorise our performances, we use a number of 'accessibility' terms. If a performance of  has one of the following options, this means the following:

Language no problem

A performance in which little or no (spoken) language is used. Sometimes there are surtitles, so that the (spoken) language of the actor is not relevant to following the story. In many cases, music or a soundscape plays an important role. 

Sign language interpreter available

There is a Dutch Sign Language interpreter present. He or she translates the performance for people with a hearing impairment.

Script interpreter present

A script interpreter is present. He translates the performance for people with a hearing impairment.

Guide dog welcome

Almost the entire festival is accessible with an assistance dog. There are a number of exceptions; please contact our accessibility team.

Telecoil / infrared system

There is a loop or infrared system available.

Wheelchair accessible

A performance can be visited in a wheelchair. However, it is often necessary to book in advance. Our accessibility team can give you more information about this.

Hearing impairment

The performance is suitable for people with an auditive disability. Usually, little or no (spoken) language is used. Performances in which music plays an important role are often excluded from this term, but they are labelled 'language no problem'. We work together with Theatre with Interpreter.

Visual impairment

The performance is suitable for people with a visual impairment. Language and/or music predominate here. There are also performances where we offer audio description in cooperation with Stichting Komt het Zien.
