Next year, it will be 150 years since slavery was officially abolished in Surinam and the Antilles. But until 1873, slavery was practised under state supervision. This year, Keti Koti (which means 'broken chains') was also celebrated and commemorated in 's-Hertogenbosch. For here too, the effects of the suffering caused by slavery are present. The foundation Wi Eygi Fasi, which is currently being set up, wants to enter into a dialogue to make people more aware of the slavery past and celebrate Caribbean culture and traditions. During Boulevard, the foundation will present itself and give an impetus to the 2023 programme.
