The BIG 30

You have just survived your quarterlife crisis and already the next big milestone is looming: the BIG 30. But where does this pressure come from? In 'The Big 30', Collectief MAMM explores the stigma surrounding turning thirty: letting go of youth, facing existential questions, discovering your first grey hairs and dealing with decision stress.

Five twenty-somethings are on the cusp of this turning point and take you with them in the final countdown. They tumble, run, slide, lift and flip across the concrete floor. Along the way, they bump into themselves, celebrate life and invite the audience into their race against time.

This coming-of-age performance is both light-hearted and deeply vulnerable. For MAMM, the transition from one life stage to the next is a fascinating moment – a chance to question social expectations, age-related stereotypes and peer pressure. As always, they draw on real stories by talking with peers during their creation process.

About the artists
Collectief MAMM consists of Maxime Abbenhues and Mees Meeuwsen. They create performances about, for, and by people in their twenties – offering a glimpse into a generation often misunderstood. Their signature lies in balancing (literally and figuratively) between dance and acrobatics. They love taking risks, infuse their work with humour, and offer their audience and peers a sharp, self-reflective mirror. From 2024 to 2026, they are supported by the Nieuwe Makers programme of the Performing Arts Fund NL.
