Tapeloop Temple
Sat, Aug 21, 2021 t/m Sun, Aug 22, 2021
Mathijs Leeuwis | NL

Old photos fade and turn yellow, people disappear, stories die out, names are no longer spoken. Cassettes and videotapes become unusable. There is something beautiful and melancholic in transience. Tapeloop Temple is an installation built around the minimalistic sound composition Généalogies. The composition is played on tape loops, analogue audiotapes that are stretched, slowed down and repeated. Mathijs Leeuwis pays a tribute to imperfection and our failing memories: go forth, forget and recreate.
