Not an ugly word about The Pointer Sisters, Haim or O'G3ne. But King Sisters rises far above musical sisterly happiness. Joske Koning [1989] is actress and theatre maker, Annelie [1993] vocalist and composer and Marthe [1996] visual artist and performer. The [singing] voice is their connecting link. They draw inspiration from contemporary genres, from classical to jazz and pop.

The sibling dynamic provides extra chemistry. A monologue is interrupted by a vocal piece, a vocal piece is interrupted by a performance. Their desire: social polyphony. Or as Susan Sontag wrote to Patti Smith: "Hear all voices at variance, hear all songs roared out at once."
