Why would a brother turn against his own flesh and blood? In 'My Brother's Keeper', close friends and storytellers Sahand Sahebdivani and Raphael Rodan tell the classic biblical story of Cain and Abel. In this combination of storytelling and musical theatre, they travel through history and recognise the Cain and the Abel in each other.

Sahand and Raphael do not shy away from difficult questions but place them at the very heart of their work. So too in their new production 'My Brother's Keeper', in which themes of cultural and religious conflict come together through the primal story of the origin of human violence: the story of Cain and Abel. They explore these themes through family narratives and oral traditions (stories, customs, practices and spoken accounts passed down from generation to generation, ed.).

About the artist

Sahand Sahebdivani and Raphael Rodan have for many years been two of the strongest voices in the international storytelling world. Together they founded Mezrab in Amsterdam in 2004, which has since grown into one of the most important storytelling cafés in the world. As artistic duo Seraphim, they previously created the widely acclaimed productions 'Kingdom of Fire and Clay', 'Sons of Abraham' and 'My Father Held a Gun', with which they won the Amsterdam Fringe Gold Award in 2017. Their work is known for personal stories that dare to ask big political and religious questions.
