Want to talk about mental health and move to the most powerful beats? Join us for a unique dance session with British choreographer and KRUMP specialist Joseph Toonga and Leonardo Laureano. Together we will explore how dance can be a form of healing and expression—even when words fail.

The workshop offers a deeper understanding of how Joseph and the team use Krump as a way to release emotions, especially in connection to identity and lived experience. This session also provides a space to connect with other youth through movement.

No experience is required—all curious, open and creative young people are welcome.

The workshop will be led by:
Joseph Toonga – Choreographer & Creative Director
Lucas Veiga – Brazilian Psychotherapist & Author

About Lucas Veiga: Psychologist and Master in Clinical Psychology. He integrates art, philosophy, and psychoanalysis as tools for the promotion of mental health and as resources for creating anticolonial and transdisciplinary practices. He is the author of the dissertation "The Analyst Is Present: Marina Abramovic’s Performance Art and the Clinic” and the book "Clinic of the Impossible: Lines of Escape and Healing,” in which he explores issues related to Black identity and mental health. He developed the performance/experiment “How to Create for Yourself a Decolonized Body,” which is an invitation to reinvent oneself and the world through practices of freedom in relation to colonial history. He works as a speaker, mental health consultant, and psychology professor at Casa do Saber.

Which themes matter to Black and men of colour when it comes to mental health?
This big question is at the heart of choreographer Joseph Toonga’s search for answers.

Questionnaire
To ensure that real stories are reflected in the performance and the accompanying workshops, Joseph is gathering experiences—especially from Black and other men of colour—through this questionnaire. Your voice helps determine which themes resonate most and deserve space on stage and in the wider conversation.
