Want to talk about mental health and move to the most powerful beats? Join us for a unique dance session with British choreographer and KRUMP specialist Joseph Toonga team. Together we will explore how dance can be a form of healing and expression—even when words fail.

The workshop offers a deeper understanding of how Joseph and the team use Krump as a way to release emotions, especially in connection to identity and lived experience. This session also provides a space to connect with other youth through movement.

No experience is required—all curious, open and creative young people are welcome.

The workshop will be led by:
Joseph Toonga – Choreographer & Creative Director
Lucas Veiga – Brazilian Psychotherapist & Author

About Lucas Veiga: Lucas is a Brazilian psychotherapist, trauma specialist, and author of the book “Descolonizando a Mente” (“Decolonizing the Mind”). His work focuses on the intersection of mental health, colonial history, and racial identity in Brazil, with a special focus on Black and Indigenous communities. With over 34,000 followers on Instagram and regular appearances in national media, Lucas’ accessible approach to decolonized healing has resonated with audiences both inside and outside of clinical settings. He has developed therapeutic frameworks for youth, social workers, and creative practitioners, and his participation in this session ensures that cultural care remains integral to the festival’s impact.

Which themes matter to Black and men of colour when it comes to mental health?
This big question is at the heart of choreographer Joseph Toonga’s search for answers.

Questionnaire
To ensure that real stories are reflected in the performance and the accompanying workshops, Joseph is gathering experiences—especially from Black and other men of colour—through this questionnaire. Your voice helps determine which themes resonate most and deserve space on stage and in the wider conversation.
