After the powerful 'ONE SONG' (Boulevard 2023), Miet Warlop returns to the festival with a brand-new performance. In 'Inhale Delirium Exhale', she rolls out metres of silk across the stage. Performers disappear into it, wrestle with it, and dance through it. What seems soft turns out to be stubborn. What looks playful, sometimes scrapes. The result is a world where wonder, disorientation and delight go hand in hand.

Miet Warlop’s work is nearly impossible to capture in words. 'Inhale Delirium Exhale' is no linear story, but a stream of images – a tribute to imagination. Poetic, physical, and at times absurd. Warlop lets go of perfection. She welcomes frayed edges, disruptions, and accidents. What starts as scenery becomes a character. What is gentle, turns forceful. A sensory universe unfolds, where beauty and irony shift and swirl.

Characteristic of her style is the playful use of meaning: a childlike gesture can suddenly take on deep, philosophical weight. The soundtrack – mesmerising and masterful – carries the images and quickens the rhythm. Balance emerges between surrender and control, lightness and urgency.

Those who surrender to this ritual trip are drawn into an experience that is both crystal clear and enigmatic. A dance with fabric, a plunge into the subconscious – a moment of mental stillness amidst the chaos.

'Inhale Delirium Exhale' celebrates its Dutch premiere at Boulevard on Thursday 14 August.
