Mothers & Others

With Mothers & Others, buren delves deeper into mothering, from Mother Superior to Combinatrix. In one of the panels, Oshin and Melissa question the relationship between dedication to artistry (Artist Hood) and parenthood (Mother Hood): "If this work is our baby, does that make us mothers?" and "If this work is our baby, what kind of mothers are we?"

The 3 panels Mothers & Others are part of buren´s broader research on (gender-typed) gender roles, power relations, (reproductive) labour and leisure.

This project is part of the European programme apap – FEMINIST FUTURES, in the frame of Feminist Futures Festival. A project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
