VONK | NL

A canary wings its way ahead, followed by wide-open eyes. Soot-covered people in flickering light surrounded by darkness. In his new theatre monologue, Anton Dautzenberg – known for his novels Geestman (Spirit Man) and Extra Tijd (Extra Time) – retraces his past as a child growing up in a working-class neighbourhood in the South Limburg village of Schaesberg. Life there took them to the dark depths of the coal mines in South Limburg. A dark underground world where his grandfather toiled and above which he played as a child. Nicoline Soeter wrote the music, and the VONK ensemble gives all sounds and words a suitable surface. Come and feel grounded. In the most musical sense of the word.
