'ERGENS' is a theatre performance in which Schippers&VanGucht explore how we can harness the power of human connection. This installation takes you on a journey through the inner world of a child who feels ‘alleenig’—a word that captures being lonely in a magical, poetic way. What does it feel like to be caught in the enchanting grip of loneliness? And how can connection transform us?

'ERGENS' is both a shared and a deeply personal experience: while you enter the installation with 34 others, each visitor goes on their own individual journey. This makes the experience unique for both adults and children. 'ERGENS' invites us to reflect together on the impact of loneliness and the strength we find when we connect with one another.

The performance premieres on Friday 8 August at 01.00 p.m. at Boulevard.

About the artists
Schippers&VanGucht is the name of the artist duo formed by Jellie Schippers (theatre maker and director) and Myriam van Gucht (theatre maker and scenographer). Their work moves between performance art, visual art and theatre, blending video, music, fog, live performance and physical vibrations. Their striking installations have been featured at Theaterfestival Boulevard for years. Recent works include 'TussenTijdCapsule' (2021), 'De Volle Vuilkar' (2022), 'ODE' (2023) and 'EENIEDEREEN' (2024).

Good to know

For adults, but also suitable for children aged 8 and up.
You will wear a VR headset during the performance.
Starting point is the kiosk on the Parade next to Tent Groen.
For the best possible experience of ERGENS, we recommend arriving calmly and continuing your day (or festival visit) without haste. Please allow approximately 45 minutes for this performance in your schedule.
A special family combi-ticket is available on Saturday 9 August for the performance ‘BEYOND’ by Circumstances/Piet van Dycke.
