Chica Chica takes you on a musical road trip back in time. Think: funky basslines, rattling percussion, howling wah-wah guitars. Everything sounds warm, analogue and textured – like it is straight off a worn Peruvian LP. The atmosphere is summery and lightly melancholic, perfect for dancing, drifting, or simply enjoying the moment.
Bassist and frontwoman Judith Renkema (Alvaro Soler, Komodo, Judy Blank), guitarist Jeroen Kant and drummer Luuk Adams have built a solid live repertoire since their debut in 2022. Their first album gained them national attention – and a regular spot on Dutch radiostation NPO Soul & Jazz. Last year, they performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag, several summer festivals and toured the Netherlands with Popronde.
