Birds without flight

Francesca Lazzeri | NL

Birds without flight is what the Italian philosopher Emanuele Coccia calls leaves: plants conquer air and connect it with the earth. They inhabit the space vertically, horizontally and diagonally at the same time. Plants transform their environment and are in constant transformation themselves: their growth is infinite and always towards the sun. In this intimate and topical performance/installation, Francesca Lazzeri turns our human relationship with the world of plants upside down in the hope of creating more room for an alternative balance between the various species. The main characters in this story are our green friends, so to speak.

Francesca Lazzeri (Italy, 1991) graduated from the Mime School in Amsterdam in 2016. She has since created and performed in visual and physical performances in the Netherlands and abroad—initially as part of the performance company Wild Vlees and since 2019, under her own name. Francesca leaves her own mark thanks to her uncompromising, outspoken work, which is often physically challenging for the actors.
