An Immersive Journey touches on themes such as sexual violence and intergenerational trauma, while offering space for healing through a connection with nature. Dreamlike soundscapes, composed by Sicilian guitarist Alberto Ammendolia, flow seamlessly from one song into the next. These are performed live, together with violinist Alba Vivaldi Huuse.
The performance offers a refreshing, active concert experience that merges music, nature and technology. You’re invited to feel, connect and become part of something larger than yourself.
For this performance, 'AL ALMA' collaborates with Jeanne Shaw (Studio Sjaan), a Dutch-Irish interactive experience designer and botanic artist. Together, they create a unique live experience where natural elements, interactive technology and personal stories intertwine. A space arises for wonder, stillness and connection – between humans and nature, between artists and audiences.
This performance is one of six Fontys Finals — graduation works by students from Fontys Academy of the Arts. Fontys Finals is part of Future Feels, the student programme of Boulevard. Students from Avans Creative Innovation (Den Bosch and Breda) and Fontys Academy of the Arts (Tilburg) unite their youthful creative fire and artistic strength on a shared stage. A vibrant space where new talents in theatre, dance, cabaret, visual arts, and music can be discovered all day long. Future Feels is the place where students and the festival meet — a programme in which tomorrow’s makers create, present, and exchange together.
About the artists
'AL ALMA' is an international folk-pop trio made up of Dutch-Canadian singer-songwriter Maaike Girardin, Sicilian guitarist Alberto Ammendolia and Norwegian-Spanish violinist Alba Vivaldi Huuse. Their music is poetic, personal and immersive, drawing inspiration from folk, pop and world music. The name 'AL ALMA' means “to the soul” in Spanish, reflecting their artistic mission: to return to the soul through captivating stories, dreamy soundscapes and moving melodies. It’s also a subtle nod to their names: AL(ba), AL(berto), and MA(aike).
