Transmute

In troubled times, it feels reassuring to say that we feel solid ground beneath our feet. But when the ground is knocked out from under our feet, our self-image wavers. In this dance performance, the familiar ground suddenly becomes quicksand and we slowly sink into an unknown world. Under the name Sandman, Sabine Molenaar from Brabant-Brussels makes visual choreographies with a flexible red cord: dreams, nightmares, and metamorphoses. Transmute resembles a feverish dream on an ominous sound set full of rolling iron and swelling hammer blows, with which Sabine tries to open a new beginning.

Note: We recommend that you come by bike as much as possible. Would you rather come by car? Then we will ensure that you receive a parking ticket.

Location MAINSTAGE Brabanthallen (hal 4)
Running time 65 min.
Genre Dance, Performance

Transmute was created just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Sabine's first group work, with which she hopes we can create an opening to rewrite ourselves. Time, space, and role seem interchangeable: being or becoming the other. Between dream and quicksand, even our individuality appears to be fluid.
