Murakami

Ikarai | NL

The main characters from the books by the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami know exactly who they are. And that's exactly the problem. He ascribes talking cats to them, fish falling from the sky, places where time does not exist and thoughts that become reality, to show them: stop becoming who you are. In alienating, absurdist books he takes you into another dimension. It's exactly what Ikarai does, with the 3D performance Murakami. In this performance you experience the writer three-dimensionally. Set to lyrics, visuals and a combination of classical and jazz music, you can't help but simply be, sometimes in confusion, sometimes in wonder.

Location Verkadefabriek/Grote Zaal
Running time 60 min.
Genre Music

Improvisation, composition and narration form a new concert experience: you are sucked into the world of a writer, Ikarai mixes the worlds of classical composition and jazz improvisation into a sound accompanying a story. You experience Ikarai’s concerts like a film for the spirit.
