Facilities 2022

This year, we are once again putting maximum effort into accessibility. Below is an overview of the facilities and adaptations.

Part of the regular programme of Theaterfestival Boulevard is suitable for people with a hearing or visual impairment. There are also performances with sign language interpreter, written interpreter and audio descriptor. You can find this information on the website under the filter 'Accessibility' in the programme overview. 

We are happy to provide tailor-made advice, so feel free to send your question or wish to toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl.

Not a lot to spend?

We offer the following:

  • Free performances on the Park stage in the Zuiderpark. 
  • Free entrance to the Block Boxes [between 13.00 and 14.00] in the Zuiderpark.
  • Free context programme in De Dom in the Zuiderpark. 
  • Free music in the BLVRD Theatre [on Mon, Di and Wed] on the Parade. 

Blind or partially sighted?

We offer the following:

  • Selection of performances with audio description.
  • Introductions prior to the performance, where you get to know the set and the actors. Register via: toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl.
  • Welcome to assistance dogs. There are a number of exceptions; please contact us via toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl.
  • Free ticket for companions/supporters with a companion pass, book via toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl.

Deaf or hard of hearing?

We offer the following:

  • Selection of performances with Dutch Sign Language interpreter and written interpreter
  • Telecoil in BLVRD Theatre on the Parade, Perron-3 and Verkadefabriek.
  • Special seats in the auditorium with good visibility.
  • Sign Language Café on Saturday 13 August, from 15.00 in the Zuiderpark. The cosiest and quietest café on the new festival site, with a barman who speaks sign language fluently.
  • Dutch sign language interpreters and sign language interpreters present during the Sign Language Café. 
  • Various tent performances this afternoon are also accessible to people with a hearing impairment. A sign language interpreter is present at some performances. 

Sensitive to stimuli?

We offer the following:

  • Low-stimulus zone in the Zuiderpark.
  • Low-stimulus Monday on 8 August in the Zuiderpark.
  • Selection of performances which are low in stimulus.
  • Customised work on request (e.g. rest areas in between).

Cognitive impairment?

We offer the following:

  • Tailor-made day programmes, also for people with chronic fatigue or autism.
  • We make sure that everything is arranged; transport, shorter and low-threshold performances and resting places in between.
  • Low-stimulus Mondays (afternoons with as few environmental stimuli as possible).
  • Age indication at the performances.

Mobile disability?

We offer the following:

  • Special wheelchair spaces in the venue. These are on request only! Please send an email to toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl to reserve a spot.
  • Good accessibility for wheelchairs; ramps and walkways are used as much as possible.  
  • Disabled parking spaces on the Parade (location Parade) and in the parking garage Sint Jan (location Zuiderpark).
  • Wheelchair-accessible buses from the Zuiderpark to the faraway performance venues. On request only! Please send an email to toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl to reserve a spot.
  • Changing rooms and disabled toilets at the Parade and in the Zuiderpark and at various locations. 
  • Seats in the queue for ticket control at all locations.
  • Free ticket for companions/supporters with a companion pass, book through toegankelijkheid@festivalboulevard.nl.
